Newspaper Website Design

Ok. I live in South Florida, and I have to say that I have always loved the Sun-Sentinel and Miami Herald Newspapers. They are both crucial parts of my day ever since 9th grade of high school! The irony of this is that I don’t even really read the entire paper; just like any 9th grade Fort Lauderdale High School student; I go straight to the Sports Section and continue from there.

In recent years, the Sun Sentinel has re launched their website in a more magazine style so that they can render their website on desktop, Ipad, and mobile platforms alike. As an avid user of the site I have to say that I enjoy it. The only problem is that ever since these upgrades they have been requesting membership fees.

Membership fees for the modern Newspaper

I graduated High School in 2004. By this time almost everything is digital. The first thing that Newspapers had to fight off is not only the internet in general but the increase use of the internet, and the speed at which information was flying. Today with more social media on the rise and the use of the mobile phone for almost everything, people are not buying newspapers anymore.

We have been approached at our Web Design Company many times about re designing many Newspaper websites so that they can squeeze all the data they have from news to sports, to politics in only so much space, but in a way that is user friendly.

The future of Newspapers and Editorials

The future is definitely online, and ultimately it looks like all Newspaper companies have caught on. Newspaper websites have been popping up and newspaper website design is actually becoming a “thing” If not, chances are you’re still behind wondering how you can increase more newspaper and magazine sales. The solution is pretty simple, you have to bring it all online, and apparently charge a fee as well, but that’s a whole other blog entry all its own.
