Zaniac Web Design Program for Kids

At Zaniac, kids aren’t just browsing the web, they’re building their own websites. At Zaniac, a national STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) enrichment franchise for students in grades K-8, kids are building necessary skills at a young age. Zaniac has launched its newest STEM course, Web Design, which will be offered at campuses nationwide starting January 25, 2016.

In Web Design, second through eighth grade students will explore web programming by building their own custom website through web hosting service Weebly, and work with cutting-edge web standards like HTML5 and CSS3. Additionally, students will learn about site maintenance and domain management.

By going from concepts to functional sites, students will learn the basics of web languages, layout strategies, color theory and responsive web design. Upon completion of the program, students are able to keep their website to share with friends and family.

“Web literacy is becoming an increasingly important skill for the 21st century, which is why we’re excited to add this course to our curriculum,” said Sidharth Oberoi, Zaniac President and Co-Founder. “By learning web design at a young age, we hope to encourage kids to take an active role in their online future.”

The after-school STEM enrichment franchise currently has corporate campuses open in Salt Lake City and Park City, Utah, in addition to franchises in Miami, New York City, Santa Monica, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The fast-growing franchise has campuses set to open in Southlake, Texas and Asheville, North Carolina early this year and plans to reach 50 campuses total by 2017.

The new Web Design course will join the multiple Computer Programming courses already offered at Zaniac. The program is a 90-minute class that meets once a week for six weeks, and the five-to-one student to instructor ratio ensures a personalized, peer-based educational experience.

In addition to Web Design, Zaniac offers a multitude of other STEM learning programs that gets kids excited to learn math and science while preparing them for 21st Century jobs, including Zaniac Robotics: LEGO®, Game-Based Learning: Minecraft™, App Creation, 3D Printing and Fashion Design.
